Also called 'Lacewood', London Plane is perhaps the most attractive of all the British hardwoods with its fabulous grains and figures. Its common in cities, but rarely seen in timber form as much of it is full of shrapnel from WW2!
Our stocks are wind fall from local estates and parklands where they were grown as decorative specimens and reached huge sizes.
It has a wild grain requiring hand finishing by scraper after planing to get the best finish.
Beautiful and scarce its used for fine joinery and furniture.
